We went on Saturday & Sunday! We were late on Saturday cos we all went for lunch at Great World first. When we got to Fort Canning it was so bloody hard to get a carpark slot! Anyway, when we reach, Lior was already performing. We managed to find a space at the back, near the steps leading to the terrace. It was so darn crowded man! I dont think it has ever been that crowded. Me & Fendy watched Lior perform while the rest went to the Gallery to watch the Bollywood dance workshop. Lior was wonderful.. the guy's voice sound a bit mediterranean but he's Aussie! Then we left our mats(praying nobody would steal it!) and went to the Bollywood workshop. The guy was like teaching ppl to dance so me & Fendy went to the Top Stage to watch Bill Cobham. That guy is super duper talentedddd. He could play the drums superbly. However, it was so bloody hot (that's the prob with the Top Stage!) so we went back to the Gallery. Things were heating up as there were some ppl on the very low stage dancing. Hehe. We watched that till finish before going down to the Fort Green stage to watch Idan Raichel. They were good too. We were like lying down listening to them and just chilling. That's one thing I like abt performances at the Fort Green stage, you can just lie down and listen to the music. The performance ended at abt 8.45pm. We went up again to the Top Stage to watch Akim El Sikameya. His voice is very powerfullllll. But it was so fucking crowded so we ended up right at the back. Then the Polaroid girls came and took out photos!!!! Hehe, we never fail to get the polaroids every single year. Anyway, we didnt watch Akim El Sikameya all the way. His voice was wonderful but the performance was so so. We went down and watched this percussion group for a while. They were good but Fendy said that they kept repeating the same thing. Hehe. We ended up at the Fort Green stage again. Tinariwen performed at 9.30pm. They were nice too but a bit slow. We went up to the Gallery at abt 10.15pm for the 10.30pm Dhol Foundation workshop. It was happening man!!! They are so superb!! I so love them. We had to leave at 11 cos Apache Indian was performing at the Fort Green stage. So all of us ran like lunatics to the stage. Hehe. That was so worth it. Apache Indian was also superbbbbb. Me & Fendy did not go to the front but we were standing up and dancing. The highlight was when he sang Raggamuffin Girl, Boom Shakalaka and some reggae song. Me & Fendy went crazy. It was wonderful. I love to watch Fendy dance.. he is just so wonderful and it is such a turn-on. Hehe. I'll censor that part. After that we hung around at the area and manage to watch some idiots fight. Haha. I needed to go to the ladies so all of us went upstairs. As per normal, the toilet was fucking dirty and crowded. We had to go to the one at the back. We went to Fort Gate for the club set then. It was so crowded and hot. Me & Fendy just stood at the back while the rest braved the crowd and went in, only to appear again less than five minutes later. It was almost 1am so we decided to go to McDonald's East Coast. We talked and eat and as per normal, they were such fun company! They kept asking me to persuade Fendy to go for Sunday's Womad as well cos we initially didnt plan to go for that as Fendy was working. I reached home at abt 3.15am and made Fendy send me to the doorstep! Hehe.. it's hungry ghost month !!!!!!!!!!! Took a shower when I reached home. Got on the PC to check out the nanabeyonce thingy that Maggie kept talking abt. The nanabeyonce girl got no shame. She looks like fuck but can still pose in lingerie. So disgusting. She should go fly kite.
Had an argument with Fendy on Sunday morning cos of the Womad thingy and his Bangkok trip. I wanted to go Womad but he doesnt want miss work cos he wants the moolah for the Bangkok trip. In the end, we decided to compromise. We decided to go for Womad but go off earlier so that Fendy could go to work. c",) We went on our own cos the others were already out. Met Fendy at abt 5.15pm and we went to Cityhall. Went to Jason's to get some stuff. Ended up getting HL Milk(of all things!!), Strepsils(cos my throat was sore from all the screaming on Sat!) and Ruffles. We then proceeded to walk to Fort Canning. We were sweating by the time we reach there. The rest were still on their way. We managed to find a spot in front. Wicked Aura Batucada was on stage, doing some sound check. The others came shortly after that. We watched Wicked Aura rehearsed. Everybody was clapping even though it was just a rehearsal(sort of). We just sat around and talk while waiting for them to start. That was when we saw Fendy's friend and his gf. We went over to them to talk for a while. I needed to go to the ladies after that so went we up to the ladies near the Gallery. We also got Canadian pizza and Japanese pizza. Hehe.. international food. It's Womad afterall! We went down and realized that the MC was already on stage. We rushed to our mat like lunatics (yes.. it's always 'Rush Here' 'Rush There' at Womad!). Wicked Aura was good but they played the same pieces as the past 2 years. There were not many ppl dancing. I think if they were at the Top Stage there would definitely be lotsa ppl dancing!! Their performance ended at 8pm and we rushed to the Top Stage for the Dhol Foundation. We were somewhere in front. Hehe. They were smashinnnngggggggg!!! Superbbbbbbbbbb! Wonderful!!!!!!!!!! Spectacular!!!!!!!!! They got us all dancing like mad ppl. It was so bloody hot(pun intended!). I was like dancing while fanning myself and Fendy. But I dont think you could actually just stand there without dancing. Banghra music is just so niceeeee. You cant help but dance and jump with your hands in the air. The guys from Dhol foundation were also so yummmmyyyyy. Hehe. We rushed to the Fort Green stage before the thing ended cos it's already 8.45pm and Sheila Majid was performing. Sheila Majid has a wonderful voice but the performance wasnt so hot. We just lied down and listened to her. We did scream a couple of times to give her some support. There were ppl dancing but not a lot. Not like the Dhol Foundation's performance where everyone was dancing. Of course,it was partly cos it was at the Top Stage and everybody has to stand up. Her performance ended at 9.30pm. We just sat and talked till 10pm. Me & Fendy left for home and work, respectively so we didnt get to watch Asere & Bill Cobham.
Overall, Womad was smashinggggggg. But we(me & Fendy) preferred the 2003 Womad. That was superbbbbbbbbbbbb. However, this year's Womad was better than last year. I cant help but notice that there are a lot of Indians & Pakis this year. Eye candies. Most of them are so gorgeoussssssss. The guys especially. Yummmyyyyyy. Hehe. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets. Shhhh.. dont tell Fendy that. ;p Me and Fendy ended up paying $136 for both days instead of $110 cos we initially wanted to attend Sat's Womad and bought the one day tix. But we are not complaining. It was worth every single cent.
